We missed Saturday and Sunday. Saturday I was busy and couldn’t make it to the computer, I really liked Benny the Bull in the sprint and he didn’t disappoint. Sunday I liked a horse on the Santa Anita card but they cancelled.

Today we’ll head to sunny Florida for a N2x on the turf for fillies and mares. Morning line 2nd choice is #1 Silence Dogood. She drops out of a G3 turfer at Calder and has run well with the likes of Rutherienne who at one time last year was considered a superstar in the making. Chris Clemente sends out the #5 Nyarhini who deserves consideration making her second start off the layoff. #6 Stormy West is your morning line choice and is also dropping out of a G3 stakes. Was in very good form last spring and summer and goes out for Kent D and Mott, who had a very big weekend. #7 and #8 both drop out of G2 events.

All that being said, our choice is #3 Drop a Line. Drop a Line goes out for G. Motion and Johnny V. Comes out of a nice win over N1x types at Calder. She set a quick pace that day over good turf and just drew off when asked. I’m hoping she doesn’t need to have the lead to run well, and it appears she has rated off the pace in the past. #8 is one who looks to need the lead and if this filly can’t rate we may be doomed. That being said, at 8-1 on the morning line, I’ll take my chances on a lightly raced, well bred horse stepping up in class.

 Play of the day:

$50 win #3 Drop a Line race 9 at Gulfstream — turf only.

Good luck. Hopefully someone out there has been playing along, not sure how long we can keep hitting at this rate, but so far, so very good.

    Hey Phil J.,

Just noticed I was getting some visits from the link over here at your site — thanks for linking me up. I’ve been swamped of late but will reciprocate as soon as I get a chance.

    Frank,

No problem and thanks for coming over.

Our play of the day today ran 2nd. Bet down to 5-2 from an 8-1 morning line. Bill Mott had the winner who looked very good while rallying wide. Another horse I wouldn’t have condoned betting at that price but atleast we got some run from her.

    Back tomorrow.

    Hi Phil,

I played Drop a Line today in my foray into a days play – a few exotics. Looked good until Mott’s horse exploded!

    Keep plugging away!

  4. Phil J. Says:

Yeah, she ran ok. I thought she could lay off the pace a bit but she ended up dueling inside which is never an easy trip.

We are doing ok so far with the play of the day, lookin’ for something today.

  5. PTP Says:

I just noticed you hit rate on these. Well done.

It takes some guts to place picks up and track them for all to see. If the inevitable losing streak comes I hope you stick with it, as you look like you know what you are talking about and you might be one of the very few public cappers to have +ROI.

I will place a post up sometime this week so others can follow your progress!

    Good luck!

  6. Phil J. Says:

    Thanks.

We’ll see how it goes. No doubt that losing streak is coming. I read the post over at your place last night so data has been presented that says so lol

I’d like to think I have some clue what is going on. We’ll see. Really is all about picking your spots.

After doing this for a few weeks I now understand why some of the public handicappers put odds stipulations on the plays the make. That horse yesterday at Gulfstream was severly overbet and had I had a choice of #3 at 5-2 or #6 at 2-1 I would have taken the #6. Couple others have been severly overbet prior to yesterday, both winners and losers.

Nothing exciting today, I only look quickly at Philly Parks feature and didn’t really care for anything. Hopefully tomorrow.
