Been away for a few days, bit busy but we are back today and we’ll head to Laurel for the featured 8th race on the card …

The 8th at Laurel is a 32k Optional Claimer with a 3rd level allowance condition for older horses going 7F.  The captain obvious horse and most likely odds on favorite is #6 Chasin’ Tiger, who is going for his 6th win in a row, has been in the exacta in 9 straight, and he is very sharp visually on the track. I have a tough time betting against this horse for a number of reasons, obviously he is very sharp, in good form, has speed, and good trainer. All that being said, he is 7-5 on the morning line and I believe he will be odds on at post time, so we are going to try to beat him. I believe this distance and pace scenario, plus a pretty quick turn around might leave him a bit vulnerable, we’ll see.

#1 Casey Doon has good speed and is drawn inside. Comes out of a nice 2nd at the same level, horse that just got up in the last few jumps to beat him last time won right back at this same level yesterday. I don’t believe 7F is this horses best distance and while 31% of the 6F races at Laurel are won in wire to wire fashion, only 15% of the 7F races are won in that fashion. He faces pace pressure from atleast #6 Chasin’ Tiger and I would think #2 Prince of Iron. Prince of Iron is another sharp horse in here, comes off a two wins and goes out for good connections. #3 Mint Slewup also comes in off a win and gets Pino.

Our selection is #7 Eternal Star. Goes out for Trombetta and Pimentel and exits a live 60k claimer at the Big A. It was a 7 horse field and of the 6 that have run back, 2 have won and 2 have run 2nd. If Chasin’ Tiger holds his form and runs his race we are probably running for 2nd.

    Boom! Another winner.

    Well done!!

  2. Phil J. Says:

Well, I hate to say I told you so … but I did. Chasin’ Tiger was in two compromising positions during the running of this race. He was 3 wide and he was up on a solid pace, both of which can spell doom at Laurel Park going 7F. Chasin’ Tiger finished a beaten 3rd.

I also told ya Eternal Star was the 2nd most likely winner at a much better price.

    7 Eternal Star Pimentel J 120 8.80 4.40 2.40

Pimental gave him a perfect trip just off the 3 dueling leaders and took command turning for home.

I really hope somebody is gaining something from this. Some nuts would pay for this! We have been carrying this strike rate pretty much since our first 5 bets which is well above my expectations.

That statement should be enough to bring on that week long losing streak!

    Thank you PTP …

Watching replays for tonights Big M action. Panaramic Art going for 19, Stylish Solution going for 12 I think, the rest of the open F&M pacers, plus the WO trot.
