Curlin makes his ’08 debut …

At 11:15am eastern time Curlin will be headed to the starting gate in Dubai, not sure how many places you can find it live here in the states. I’m lucky enough to wager through NJ’s online wagering platform which offers Dubai and streams it live over the web. Lucky me will be watching.

The Aspiring Horseplayer has a nice piece about Curlin, including a couple videos. I guess he could be vulnerable, since the theory is he does everything better the second time. I’m interested to see how he performs outside of the states. Regardless, it is nice to see a top 3 year old come back to the races.

Apparently either I misread the article or the article was wrong about the time of the race, because Curlin is in the 5th. As of 11:08, they are 9 minutes away from the 3rd.

Curlin won like a good thing should. Was never really asked and he prevailed by a length. Should set him up well for the World Cup.

Talk about an overlay in the American pools, check out what the #6 paid to place. I’m not sure if this is correct, because I don’t remember there being a dead heat and they payoffs only show one trifecta and exacta. If it is though, 81 dollars to place with Curlin in the pay offs? Jeez. There was no show wagering.

    1st 1 CURLIN $2.40 $2.10
    2nd 4 FAMILIAR TERRITORY (GB) $9.40
    3rd 6 JET EXPRESS (SAF) $81.40
