Camsurge, Friday night Big M …

While playing the Meadowlands last night I came across Camsurge, running in the 8th race, a 20k claimer for pacing older horses. He is a 12 year old gelding by Cam Fella out of the Walton Hanover mare, Carolina Wren. He was bred by Hanover Shoe Farms ( PA ) and has earned 508k in his career. Nothing real interesting right? Not so, this guy has made 322 career starts.  In recent years, while thoroughbreds run less and less and need more and more time between efforts, this guy has made 322 career starts. He is still winning, as evident by his victory over 15k claimers last week, I believe he ran 3rd last night.

Friday nights card is a solid one, with at-least a few interesting horses if nothing else.

American Lane tries to make it 5 wins in a row and 8 straight in the exacta in what amounts to the open trot, the 5th on the card.  He has been beating most of this field like a drum and I keep trying to find a way for Master Pine to beat him but it hasn’t happened lately. So, I’ll probably be watching, especially since tonight he is drawn inside and doesn’t need a certain trip.

Stylish Solution goes out in what amounts to the F&M open pace. She is another that has been beating these types like a drum, though tonight’s field includes some new shooters that look to at-least have a shot. Stylish Solution has won atleast 9 in a row, including 4 opens. Little Miss Dragon won last weeks open, but Stylish Solution didn’t show up last week and LMD has been handled by SS in three tries. Double Dream N comes off two qualifiers, the last one looked good. Stonebridge Kisses also invades after handling these same types at Dover and Yonkers. Her last she defeated Miss Galvinator A who has been close to Stylish Solution here at the Big M.

American Lane made it 9 straight in the exacta but was run down late and had his win streak ended. Wouldn’t hold it against him however, the track seemed to favor off the pace, outer flow types.

Stylish Solution couldn’t have been more impressive winning her 12 in a row in wire to wire fashion. Was never threatened, Stonebridge Kisses rounded out the exacta.

Last weeks open trot was Harness Trip Handicapping 101. American Lane won the race very easily. The runner-up that night, Euro Hanover had a real nice live cover trip and rounded out the exacta. In that race, Lets Get Serious made a real nice brush to the pocket when the horse that was in the pocket started to gap. Lets Get Serious then looked poised to take on American Lane when he broke. Meanwhile, Master Pine was 3rd, when Tetrick sat in while LGS made his brush, this costed Master Pine all hope and he was shuffled to 2nd to last behind a tired pocket sitter before rerallying for 4th.

Tonight, Tetrick got the pocket behind American Lane while LGS sat midpack waiting to make a run. Make a run Let Get Serious did, he collared American Lane and ran by him late, paying $33.xx, the exacta came back $92.xx and the tri was around $450 or so. Anyone that saw Master Pine’s or Lets Get Serious’s trip last week had to use them. Euro Hanover, who had the nice trip last week was forced first over tonight and faded at the top of the stretch.

Later on in the card, DR Dreamcatcher, the horse that was 4th behind Master Pine in last weeks open trot that got shuffled to last behind the same quitter, took a drop in class to the Nw25000 L6 tonight and won at just under 3-1.
